Is Invisalign Covered by Insurance? What Dayton-Area Patients Need to Know
If you’re considering Invisalign, one of the first questions you probably have is: “Will my insurance cover it?”
The answer lies in whether or not you have orthodontic benefits as part of your dental insurance policy. If you do, then the method of orthodontic treatment (braces vs Invisalign) doesn’t matter!
What to check in your dental insurance plan to see if Invisalign / clear aligners are covered:
- Does it include orthodontic coverage?
- What’s the lifetime maximum benefit?
- Are adult treatments covered or just children?
- Is there a waiting period before coverage begins?
- Does coverage increase if you’ve been on the plan for longer?
Most plans that cover braces will also cover Invisalign– but only up to a certain amount, often between $1,000 and $2,500.
At O’Brien Orthodontics, we help patients in the Dayton area navigate their benefits every day. We’ll contact your provider, explain your options, and apply your coverage to reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
Other ways to make Invisalign more affordable:
- FSA and HSA funds
- Monthly payment plans
- Courtesies for families with multiple patients (yes, we do that!)
